Hibiscus is a fast growing plant that is not cold tolerant. Generally, pruning can be done in two time periods, one is after the hibiscus flowers bloom, and the other is when they sprout in early spring, which is roughly from October to November, or from February to March. Choosing to prune during these two periods is beneficial to the accumulation of nutrients in the plant and the growth of new branches and buds.

Way

It is recommended to choose the construction method according to your own requirements for tree shape. If there are many tree shapes and they are messy and uneven, you can use heavy pruning to reshape the trees. If the tree is not growing well, you can just prune the weak branches, dead branches, inner branches and annual branches to make the crown look relatively vigorous and neat. In general, hibiscus basically requires a certain amount of heavy pruning, but no matter which pruning method is used, the pruning should be more than five centimeters above the intersection of the branches on the target value.

Protect

We usually overlook an important point after pruning hibiscus flowers, which is the subsequent protection. In areas with high humidity and low temperature, you can wrap the cut with plastic film or apply a healing agent after pruning to prevent the branches from being frozen. When it is relatively cold, you can also cut it short, or leave only about 10cm above the soil surface, and take insulation measures.
