What plants are suitable for cuttings in June?

flowers

June is a more suitable time for softwood cuttings, which can be divided into two categories.

One type is easier to root, such plants include rose, June snow, pomegranate, hibiscus, crape myrtle, forsythia, sea daffodil, etc. The other type is hard branch cuttings that are not easy to root, such as camellia, holly, lilac, and crabapple. In addition, some herbaceous flowers can also be propagated at this time, such as delphinium, geranium, coleus, pansy, marigold, etc.

Cutting examples

Taking camellia as an example, let’s demonstrate the flower cuttings in June. At this time, the main method adopted is the fully enclosed cutting method, and pay attention to moisturizing.

When carrying out cuttings, generally when the branches of the plant appear semi-lignified, choose water-retaining and breathable soil, such as river sand, cut suitable cuttings, retain the two leaves on the top, dip the bottom in rooting powder, and then dry them for cuttings.

When carrying out cuttings, please note that the cuttings inserted into the soil should be about half of the entire cutting. After cuttings, water them thoroughly and then cover them with plastic film. When covering with plastic film, you can build a small rack in advance, then cover with plastic film and compact it around. Note that you can cover it with a double layer of plastic film to block out light.

After that, you should pay attention to maintaining moderation and keep the temperature within 30℃. In about a month, the cuttings will take root.
