In rural areas, sweet potatoes are a high-yield and stable crop. In addition to normal consumption, they can also be used as an important raw material for the processing industry. If sweet potatoes are planted in places with good water and fertilizer conditions and managed properly, the yield per mu can be very high. Here we will talk about the technology of producing 30,000 kilograms of sweet potatoes per mu. 1. Technology for producing 30,000 jin of sweet potatoes per mu It is unlikely to produce 30,000 kilograms of sweet potatoes per mu, but it is possible to produce more than 10,000 kilograms of sweet potatoes per mu. Combined with land preparation, 2 to 3 cubic meters of farmyard manure, 10 kilograms of urea, 20 kilograms of potassium sulfate, and 10 kilograms of diammonium phosphate can be applied per mu. After mixing the fertilizer , spread 60% on the ground and 40% in the furrows after ridge formation. About 5 days after planting sweet potatoes, the seedlings should be checked and supplemented in time. In the middle and late stages of sweet potato growth, you can also spray some foliar fertilizer . At the end of August and the beginning of September, you can use 3 to 4 kilograms of urea per mu, dilute it with 100 kilograms of water, and use it to fill the seams, which will help increase the yield of sweet potatoes. 2. Five tips for increasing sweet potato production 1. Transplanting method Sweet potatoes are usually transplanted using seedlings, but transplanting requires a certain method. They cannot be transplanted like vegetables, where they are simply planted in the ground. There are two ways to transplant sweet potatoes: First, the planting should be shallow: because the tubers of sweet potatoes develop and grow close to the ground, if they are transplanted too deep, the tubers will be difficult to develop. Therefore, sweet potatoes should be planted shallowly, not deeply. Generally, the transplanting depth is 5-7 cm. Second, sweet potatoes should be planted obliquely: sweet potatoes cannot be transplanted upright. If they are transplanted upright, it will be difficult to produce potatoes. Therefore, when transplanting sweet potatoes, the seedlings should be inserted into the soil at an angle, and the greater the slope, the better, and the longer the stem segment inserted into the soil, the better. For example: a 20 cm long sweet potato seedling should be inserted obliquely into the soil about 15 cm, with about 5 cm exposed above the ground. 2. Fertilization Sweet potatoes' favorite fertilizer is potassium fertilizer. Of course, other fertilizers are also indispensable. Generally, the base fertilizer can be made of decomposed organic fertilizer combined with superphosphate, potassium sulfate, etc., but the base fertilizer cannot be urea, ammonium bicarbonate and other fertilizers. When using organic fertilizer as base fertilizer for sweet potatoes, generally no top dressing is needed. If no organic fertilizer is used as base fertilizer, top dressing is required when the potato vines are about to close the ridges. Top dressing for sweet potatoes is mostly done by irrigation, using manure water combined with potassium fertilizer to irrigate the roots. At the same time, foliar spraying is carried out. The most commonly used foliar fertilizer is potassium dihydrogen phosphate, which can be sprayed 20 days after transplanting, once every 10 days or so, which can significantly increase the yield of sweet potatoes. 3. Turn over the vines After transplanting sweet potatoes, you cannot just ignore them. When the vines grow to more than 40 cm, you need to lift the vines. Because the vines of sweet potatoes grow on the ground, adventitious roots will grow on the vines during the growth process. If the vines are not lifted, the roots on the vines will penetrate into the soil and affect the development of the main root tubers. Therefore, during management, the vines should be lifted every once in a while, and a total of about three times during the entire growing period. Especially when there are continuous rainy days, the roots on the potato vines grow very fast, so the vines should be lifted and turned in time on sunny days after rain. 4. Prevent excessive growth The most feared thing in the later stage of sweet potato planting is the excessive growth of the seedlings. Once the seedlings grow excessively, it will lead to reduced yields. Because the potato vines grow too vigorously, the potato tubers will not get enough nutrients and will develop and expand slowly. Therefore, in addition to using less nitrogen fertilizer, when the potato vines are about to cover the ridges, the growth of the seedlings can be controlled by pinching the tips. You can also spray with high concentration of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (diluted with water 150 times). 5. Weeding and loosening the soil Sweet potatoes are dwarf crops and cannot stop the growth of weeds. Weeds must be removed in time throughout the growing period to avoid affecting the normal growth of sweet potatoes. Weeding can be combined with chemical hoeing and soil loosening at the same time, because sweet potatoes not only like a clean soil surface, but also like loose and breathable soil. Frequent chemical hoeing can both loosen the soil and remove weeds. For large-scale planting, manual weeding is labor-intensive and time-consuming. You can choose corresponding herbicides to prevent weeds from growing in the sweet potato fields. That’s it |
