How to grow a pear bonsai

How to raise

Temperature and light

Pear trees prefer a warm, humid and sunny growing environment. They are highly adaptable and are resistant to cold and high temperatures. During the growing period of the pear tree, it is suitable to place it in a place with good air circulation and sufficient sunlight for maintenance. If there is insufficient light, the branches will not grow fully and the flower buds will not form fully. In winter, the bonsai can be placed in a cold room or a windproof, sunny place outdoors. Keeping the soil in the pot from freezing will allow it to safely overwinter.

Moisture

Pear leaves are sensitive to water. Insufficient water supply can easily cause them to wilt, and they will dry up and fall off after a while. Insufficient water will directly affect the fruit set rate and the growth of young fruits. Therefore, in daily maintenance, water the soil as soon as it is dry to avoid the soil from being too dry. Especially in the hot and dry weather in summer, you should also spray water on the leaves in an appropriate amount.

fertilizer

Pear trees require a large amount of fertilizer. In addition to applying sufficient base fertilizer when potting, during the growing season of the pear tree, generally decomposed organic liquid fertilizer is needed every 15-20 days. In addition to normal fertilization during the budding period, flower bud differentiation period and fruit expansion period of pear trees, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are also needed. You can spray 0.2-0.3 potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution on the leaves about 2-3 times to meet the nutritional requirements of flowering and fruiting.

Pot soil

Repotting should be done every 1-2 years, preferably in spring. The choice of potting soil should be loose, fertile, well-drained neutral sandy soil, and the pH value should be between 5.8-8.5.

prune

Carry out pruning work in a timely manner, cut off overgrown branches, crossed branches, overlapping branches, dead branches, shorten strong branches, promote the growth of branches at the bottom, and cultivate compact fruiting branches. At the same time, the bonsai achieves a natural and beautiful artistic effect with clear layers and a well-arranged density.
