White crystal chrysanthemum cultivation methods and precautions

How to cultivate white chrysanthemum

Soil selection

White crystal chrysanthemum is not very demanding on the soil (many plants grow very strong, but this is all in their natural state. Once they are planted in potted plants at home, it is a different story). Choose fertile, loose, moist sandy soil. The air permeability of the soil must be good. During the growth of white crystal chrysanthemum, the soil must be moist but not waterlogged.

Light and temperature requirements

White crystal chrysanthemum prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight but relatively cool. Insufficient sunlight will affect flowering and cause the flowers to wither prematurely. For home maintenance, it is better to place it on a south-facing balcony!

White crystal chrysanthemum is cold-resistant but not heat-resistant. The most suitable temperature for its growth is 15~25 ℃. It can safely overwinter below -5 ℃, but the plant will grow poorly if the temperature is above 30 ℃. Therefore, in winter, the temperature must be controlled above 0 ℃. If the environment is below -5 ℃ for a long time, the leaves will be frostbitten, dry and turn yellow, but as the temperature rises, they will gradually recover and will not affect growth. The high temperature in summer will accelerate the withering of flowers. Placing them in a cool and ventilated place can prolong the flowering period.

Water and fertilizer requirements

The most critical maintenance period for white crystal chrysanthemum is the flowering period, because the flowering period of white crystal chrysanthemum is relatively long. It can bloom from the winter solstice to the early summer. The peak flowering period is from March to May . During this period, it needs more nutrients. Top-dress once every 20 to 30 days during the flowering period, and once every half a month during the growing period. Do not water too frequently, water once every 7 to 10 days, and keep the soil moist.

Things to note when growing white chrysanthemum

Pest and disease control

Common diseases include leaf spot and stem rot, which can be sprayed with 65% mancozeb wettable powder. Insect pests include blind bugs and leaf miners, which can be killed by spraying 1500 times of 25% carbaryl wettable powder.

Sowing at the right time

Spring and autumn are best for planting. In hot summer or cold winter, it is best to sow seeds indoors. If the indoor temperature is below 15 or above 35 degrees Celsius, it is recommended to wait patiently until the right season to start planting.
