The Flower Language of Broom

Humble, humble, elegant and neat.

The petals of the golden broom flower are slightly pointed at the tip and divided into two petals. Its shape resembles a bird about to fly, and its color is bright golden yellow, hence the name. You can often find it in forest edge grasslands, hillsides, roadside wastelands and other places.

The legend of gorse

In ancient times, people on both sides of the Yi River in Linyi, Shandong were living in dire straits, and the surging river water threatened people's property and lives at all times. Especially in the rainy summer, floods occurred, houses and fertile fields were destroyed, and people tried every possible way to fight the floods.

There was a family with two daughters, named Jinque and Yinque. They were beautiful, kind and simple. That summer, the two of them volunteered to join their fellow villagers in flood control and disaster relief. Everyone tried every possible means, but still couldn't stop the merciless flood. The flood was about to attack the villagers like a ferocious beast and swallow everything. The goldfinch and silverfinch jumped into the breach without hesitation and used their bodies to block the flood. At this moment, a miracle happened. Two small hills gradually rose up from the breach of the Yi River and blocked the breach. The flood was thus firmly blocked within the river embankment. Since then, thanks to the barrier of these two mountains, floods have never invaded the people on both sides of the strait again, and the people have lived a peaceful and prosperous life. In order to commemorate these two girls who sacrificed their lives for justice, local villagers called the two mountains Jinque Mountain and Yinque Mountain. The one in the northwest is called Yinque Mountain, and the one in the southeast is called Jinque Mountain.

Every year when spring comes, these two hills appear full of vitality and luxuriant leaves. There is also a unique plant growing on these two mountains. A kind of golden flowers grows on Jinque Mountain, while Yinque Mountain is covered with silver flowers, dotted like brilliant stars. Later, the villagers called these two beautiful little flowers goldbroom and silverbroom to commemorate the goldbroom and silverbroom.
