How to Prune Hawaiian Bamboo

How to Prune Hawaiian Bamboo

1. Preparation for pruning

Before pruning, you should determine which part to prune based on the growth conditions of the entire plant, and do not prune randomly. In addition, you should also prepare special pruning tools, which should be sharp, so that the cut wounds will be smoother, which is conducive to recovery and later germination.

2. Pruning method

When pruning, you can first cut off the diseased branches, yellow leaves, and dead branches to avoid further infection and affect growth. After pruning, prune the branches one by one from bottom to top. At this time, you should proceed according to your own purpose. If you want the plant to be rounder, you should shorten the branches that are too long and thin. Note that the cutting direction should be parallel to the main stem, otherwise the newly grown branches and leaves will easily become crooked, affecting the appearance.

3. Maintenance after cutting

It is afraid of strong light and becomes weaker after pruning. At this time, it should not be placed in the light. It should be placed in a cool place with more ventilation and loose soil so that it can recover well. After pruning, the branches and leaves can absorb nutrients better and have enough space to grow. As long as you pay attention to the maintenance methods, they will grow more vigorously and beautifully in the later stage.
