Why do Boston fern leaves dry up?

Why do Boston fern leaves dry up?

Causes of dryness

Too much light

Boston fern is a plant that likes semi-shade. If the light is too strong during cultivation, the water on the leaves will evaporate quickly, causing the leaves of Boston fern to dry up.

Too little watering

Boston fern likes a humid growing environment, and sufficient water will make its leaves look energetic. However, if you water too little, the humidity of the soil and air will be insufficient, which will often cause the leaves of the Boston fern to dry up.

Too much watering

If you water too little, the leaves will dry out, but what about watering too much? In fact, overwatering is not advisable, because too much watering may cause water accumulation in the pot of the Boston fern and cause its leaves to dry out.

What to do if it is dry

Reasonable lighting

Generally, when growing Boston ferns indoors, you don’t have to worry about strong light exposure except in summer. But reasonable lighting is still necessary. Generally speaking, Boston fern is better maintained in a place indoors with sufficient scattered light. Note that there should be sufficient sunlight during the growing season, and appropriate shade can be provided in the summer.

Watering

Because the leaves of Boston fern will dry up if you water it too much or too little, so watering it in moderation is a difficult point. It is necessary to control moisture, but before that, we must first ensure that the soil has good air permeability and drainage. Then, when watering, be sure to ensure that the soil is moist without water accumulation, but not alternately dry and wet. When the temperature is high in summer, you need to water more. In order to ensure a higher air humidity, you can spray the tree on the leaves or put a basin of water under the flowerpot to increase the humidity of the air.

If you feel that you cannot control the specific amount of water when watering, then use the method of watering less and spraying more. Do not water randomly to avoid having the opposite effect.
