How to care for newly bought calla lilies

How to care for newly bought calla lilies

1. Lighting

Calla lilies do not require much light, and a bright, diffuse light environment indoors is enough for the plant to grow vigorously. In the summer, the sun is too strong and needs shade. In the winter, the light is soft and you can expose the flowers to more sunlight and rotate the pots frequently to make the calla lilies grow more vigorously and their leaves greener.

2. Temperature

Calla lily is native to southern China, so it has certain requirements for temperature and cannot be frozen. It must be moved indoors when the temperature drops below 10℃ in winter. The most suitable growth temperature is 20-25℃.

3. Watering

The newly bought calla lilies cannot lack water during the maintenance period. If you observe that the surface of the soil turns white and dries up, you should water it thoroughly in time until water flows out from the bottom of the pot. In a dry and ventilated environment, you should also spray water on the leaves of the plant frequently to increase the humidity.

4. Fertilization

Calla lilies do not require much fertilizer and water. They only need to be planted in loose and fertile leaf mold or pine needle soil when repotting every year, and a little cake fertilizer, bone meal or chicken manure can be buried at the bottom of the pot.

5. Loosening the soil

When growing calla lilies at home, you can use a small shovel or rake to loosen the soil frequently. This can prevent the soil from becoming compacted and allow the water to seep in quickly each time, ensuring that each pot is watered thoroughly.

Six: Attention

The calla lily mentioned in this article is the weeping angel sold in the market. The juice in the plant is poisonous and cannot be touched or eaten directly by hands. It is not the white calla lily. The calla lily mentioned in Taiwan refers to the white calla lily.
