1. Cutting seasonThe season for grafting lucky trees is in spring, usually in March or April, when the temperature is preferably around 15°C. Depending on the climate in different places, it is often necessary to advance or postpone the cuttings appropriately. If the temperature is too high, the bottom of the cuttings will easily rot, and if it is too low, new roots will not easily grow. Also, be careful to avoid rainy days to avoid causing diseases. 2. Cuttings processingIn order to ensure the healthy growth of the cuttings, we must first select a good mother tree. Usually, a 1-2 year old woody branch with a length of 15-20 cm is cut from a healthy plant without diseases or insect pests, and all the leaves are removed. The cut at the bottom of the cuttings is generally 0.5 cm below the node, which makes it easier to take root. 3. Prepare the soilThe soil used for cuttings of the lucky tree should be loose but not fertile, otherwise the new roots will be burned after they grow out. Generally, plain sandy soil is used. In order to avoid bacteria or insect eggs in the soil, the soil can be spread flat in a sunny place and exposed to strong sunlight to sterilize and disinfect it. Put the soil into the flowerpot and put broken tiles at the bottom. 4. Take cuttingsAfter preparing the soil and cuttings, you can start grafting. Generally, use chopsticks to poke a hole in the potting soil. The depth is between 5-10 cm, which is mainly related to the length of the cuttings, usually one third or half of it. Spray water regularly to keep the seedbed moist. After the roots take shape, you can transplant it with soil. |
