Asparagus planting time

Asparagus is a plant of the Asparagaceae family and can be eaten as a vegetable. The white ones before they emerge from the soil are called white bamboo shoots, and the green ones after they emerge from the soil are called green bamboo shoots. Generally, they can be planted twice a year, and it is best to plant them in winter.

Asparagus sowing method

Prepare the nutrient pot : Choose loose and fertile sandy loam for asparagus, add decomposed chicken manure, phosphorus fertilizer, and wood ash, mix well and put it in the pot.

Soaking seeds for germination : Asparagus seeds absorb water slowly, so you can soak them in carbendazim for one day, then soak them in 30-degree warm water for 3 days, wrap them with gauze and germinate them at 30 degrees. Sow them when the seeds turn white.

Asparagus Planting Tips

1. Temperature : Asparagus has different temperature requirements in different growth stages. Asparagus grows best at a maintenance temperature of 25 degrees.

2. Watering : Asparagus transpiration is relatively small, which means that it consumes little water. Therefore, unless it is dry weather, watering is generally not needed. Watering in dry weather should also be based on the soil conditions. Only when the soil is completely dry, watering is required. Do not water too frequently. Once every ten days is the most reasonable.

3. Fertilization : Asparagus has different requirements for nutrients at different stages, so the fertilization methods are also different. The seedling stage is when the nutrient consumption is the greatest. It is necessary to mix base fertilizer in the soil before planting, fertilize one month after planting, and fertilize once before autumn.

Asparagus ripe for harvest

Asparagus can be harvested in the second year after planting, twice a year, the first time is from April to June, and the second time is from September to November. In the hot summer, the quality of asparagus is poor and the yield is low, which is not suitable for harvesting. The yield of ordinary asparagus per mu is about 2000-3000 kg.
