After the flowering is almost over, which is around September, the flowers will wither and the upper parts will begin to turn yellow and wither. You must immediately cut off the dead leaves and store them for the winter. You can move the lotus to the balcony of your home and keep the temperature between 0-10℃. The temperature should not be too high. It can safely overwinter within this temperature range. You can also wait until late October to early November and store the lotus in a cold cellar, keeping the temperature between 0-8℃ and keeping the soil in the pot moist. You can also use ponds for storage and place the lotus in the pond to overwinter. This method is generally not suitable for homes.
