Method of grafting dragon fruit onto Christmas cactus without leaving any mark

Method of grafting dragon fruit onto Christmas cactus without leaving any mark

1. Grafting time

There is no limit on the time for grafting. In order to ensure the survival rate, it can be done in spring, especially between Qingming Festival and Dragon Boat Festival. The climate is mild and suitable, and the temperature and humidity are appropriate, which is helpful for later survival.

2. Prepare tools

You need to prepare appropriate tools for cuttings, such as a sharp knife. In order to ensure survival and not affect the plant, it needs to be disinfected first. In order to avoid water loss after cutting, you can also prepare a tape and place it aside for use.

3. Rootstock Cuttings

1. Rootstock: This selection is very important. The plant needs to be grown for more than two years to ensure that the root system grows fast and absorbs well. Sufficient nutrients after cuttings can also promote rapid growth. Cut a healthy stem node from above and observe the cross-section. You will find a circular microtubule bundle in the middle. This is the location for cuttings. Cut this circular thing horizontally and then vertically to form a small incision. 2. Cuttings: Choose a sturdy Christmas cactus, cut the nodes from it, peel off the outer nodes to reveal the long microtubule bundles inside.

4. Take cuttings

Insert the protruding end of the Christmas cactus, also known as the cutting, into the cut of the rootstock and fit it together tightly. To prevent moisture loss, you can tie tape on the outside, which can be removed after they grow together.
