How to cultivate Takasago no Ogi

How to cultivate Takasago no Ogi

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Takasago no Otoro is suitable for growing in warm places. In other words, the temperature between 18 and 25 degrees is most suitable. It is adversely affected in hot, as well as cold environments. Therefore, the high temperature should not exceed 30 degrees, and the low temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees.

2. Light: Takasago no Otoro likes light. Under good sunlight, its color will look better and its plant shape will be more compact and not appear very loose. However, it is still afraid of excessive sunlight, so it is best to block it from the midday sun.

3. Watering: The drought resistance of Takasago is quite good, but it is afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, it is a very important principle to keep it dry rather than wet. You can wait until the substrate is completely dry, then add water and water it thoroughly, but don't let water accumulate. Watering needs to be controlled in winter and on rainy days. In addition, when it is dry, you need to spray it with water.

4. Fertilization: Takasago has basically no requirements for topdressing. Just pay attention to the base fertilizer in the soil and add a little after repotting.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: The most commonly used method is "leaf cutting", which is to use its leaves as cutting materials. This method has a wide range of applications and can be carried out throughout the year. Select strong leaves, cut them and place them in a ventilated place to dry for a while, then insert them into the substrate after the wound is dry.

2. Repotting: Generally speaking, once a year is most appropriate. If there is no condition to change the potting once a year, you can also use the method of repotting to improve the air permeability of the soil. Specifically, the soil selected can be sandy soil and base fertilizer can be added. Even if you don't change the pot, it's best to add some base fertilizer.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: The most important type of disease is "leaf spot", which will cause spots to appear on the leaves and gradually expand, worsening the disease. It can be treated by spraying with chlorothalonil, and the infected leaves must also be dealt with at the same time.

2. Pests: "Aphids" and other pests are relatively common, mostly concentrated on its leaves, and the damage is relatively large. Omethoate can be used.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: Takasago no Ogi is non-toxic.

2. Can it be grown at home? Yes, it is a kind of succulent plant, suitable for viewing at home, and has a good decorative effect.
