How to prune a fortune tree

How to prune a fortune tree

1. Pruning time

The money tree can be pruned at many times. Pruning in winter can prevent it from being too lush, resulting in poor internal ventilation and light, and breeding various diseases. Pruning in spring is mainly during its growing season, which is more conducive to its recovery and will not be frozen like after pruning in winter.

2. Tool Selection

When pruning a money tree, you need to prepare special pruning shears and gloves. Ordinary scissors are not very convenient for cutting hard branches, and will cause wear and tear on the blade, which is also not conducive to the recovery of the wound. The main purpose of wearing gloves is to avoid accidentally injuring stems and branches and causing unnecessary trouble.

3. Proper pruning

Choose different pruning methods according to the size of the money tree. For smaller plants, remove dead and weak branches. For denser branches, some of them should be cut off appropriately to ensure ventilation and light transmission. Larger plants need to have their branches shortened appropriately to control the size of the plant.

4. Pruning and maintenance

After pruning, you can place the money tree in a well-ventilated place and give it appropriate light to speed up its recovery. At the same time, some nitrogen fertilizer can be applied, which is more beneficial for promoting the growth of side branches and new shoots.
