Kiwifruit grafting method

Kiwifruit grafting method

Kiwi is a fruit with rich nutritional value. High-quality kiwis are always in short supply on the market. If you want to obtain high-quality kiwis, kiwi grafting is very important. Only the grafted kiwis will produce better fruits.

Kiwifruit grafting time

The time for kiwifruit grafting is generally in spring. No matter it is high grafting or sap grafting, if you want to achieve a high survival rate, it is recommended to graft before the sap flows or after the sap flow period. Only by avoiding the sap flow period of the tree can the survival rate of kiwifruit grafting be effectively improved.

Kiwifruit grafting technology

1. Cleft grafting

For the cleft grafting method, first cut the lower end of the scion into a bevel. Note that the thickness on one side is slightly larger than the other side. At the same time, cut 1 to 2 full buds on the scion. Then use a knife to cut in the middle of the rootstock. Insert the scion from the middle of the interface, and then wrap it with plastic.

2. Plug-in

Cut the scion at the smooth part of the rootstock, then cut the lower end of the scion into a bevel, and lightly cut the two sides of the top into small bevels, leave two full buds on the scion, insert the scion into the cut of the rootstock, and wrap the top of the scion tightly with wax or film strips.

3. Tongue bonding

Choose a smooth part of the rootstock and cut it into a tongue shape. Cut down along the branch at one-third of the distance above the slope. Leave 1 to 2 full buds on the scion before grafting, then wrap it with plastic strips and tie it tightly.
