Cultivation methods and precautions of Lanyu cinnamon

Lanyu cinnamon is very easy to grow. To grow it, you need to use loose and well-drained acidic soil as the substrate. It is best to water it only when the soil is dry, and water it thoroughly when you do. It can be slightly moist during the growing season. In autumn and winter, the soil in the pot should be kept dry to facilitate wintering. It grows faster. Fertilize once a month, mainly with nitrogen fertilizer.

Cultivation method of Lanyu cinnamon

Lanyu cinnamon likes a warm and humid environment. It is better to keep it in a place with sufficient sunshine. It is also relatively shade-tolerant and can grow well in a bright light environment. Choose loose, fertile, well-drained, organic-rich sandy loam for planting. The suitable temperature for growth is 15-25℃. It is best not to be lower than 5℃ in winter, otherwise it is easy to suffer frost damage.

1. Temperature

Lanyu cinnamon likes warm, humid, sunny environment. It likes light and tolerates shade. It likes warm, frost-free, foggy and high-temperature places. It is not tolerant to drought, waterlogging, severe cold and dry air. The suitable temperature for growth is 25-30℃. When the temperature exceeds 32℃, shading and leaf spraying are required to increase humidity and reduce temperature so that it can maintain vigorous growth.

2. Lighting

Lanyu cinnamon needs good light, but is relatively shade-tolerant. The length of time it needs sunlight varies with age. Young trees are shade-tolerant. Plants aged 3 to 5 years grow fast in shaded conditions. Plants after 5 years require more adequate light. After the potted plants enter summer, they can be moved to the shade of trees or shading sheds for better growth.

3. Moisture

Lanyu cinnamon requires a humid environment. For this reason, the soil of potted plants should always be kept moist, but there should be no accumulation of water. In the hot summer season or the dry autumn air period, watering should be controlled after the fall. In winter, more water should be sprayed and less watering should be done. If there is water accumulation in the potting soil, it will easily lead to yellowing of the plant, and the lower leaves will turn yellow and fall off. In severe cases, the roots of the plant will rot and die.

4. Soil

Lanyu cinnamon should be grown in loose, breathable, well-drained, fertile acidic culture soil or leaf mold rich in organic matter. Compacted soil in the pot will cause yellowing of the plant's leaves, severe growth problems, and decreased germination ability, and affect germination renewal, and even shorten its cultivation life. For potted plants, the best time to repot and change the soil every year is between the time of transplanting in spring and before germination.

5. Fertilizer

Lanyu cinnamon has plump plants, large leaves, and vigorous growth, so it needs more fertilizer. In addition to applying thin cake fertilizer or alum fertilizer once a month, potted Lanyu cinnamon should stop all forms of topdressing in winter to prevent fertilizer damage to the roots, causing the leaves to turn yellow or burn and fall off, otherwise it will be difficult to restore the original appearance of the plant.

Lanyu cinnamon maintenance precautions

When caring for Lanyu cinnamon, you should pay attention to preventing diseases and pests such as anthracnose, brown spot disease, aphids, etc., which mainly harm the leaves of seedlings and adult plants. On the leaves, small chlorotic spots first appear at the tips and edges of the leaves, and then expand into semicircular, circular or irregular spots. The diseased tissue is yellow-brown or brown, and small black spots appear in the later stage. These are the fruiting bodies, sometimes arranged in a whorl shape. In a humid environment, dirty white spots and orange-yellow conidia piles are formed.
