What soil is best for growing cacti?

Cactus is a succulent plant that is very suitable for potted cultivation and is loved by many flower lovers. Cactus can also purify the air and absorb harmful substances, such as formaldehyde, benzene, etc. However, if you want to grow cactus well, you need to prepare suitable soil so that its growth rate will be accelerated.

Cactus soil

Cacti like to grow in loose soil with good drainage, good air permeability, slightly acidic or neutral pH, and high humus and organic matter content. Therefore, when planting cacti, it is best to provide sandy soil.

Cactus soil preparation method

1. Garden soil + leaf mold + river sand + broken bricks and stones: The soil for cactus can be prepared with two parts of ordinary garden soil, two parts of leaf mold, three parts of river sand, and one part of broken bricks and stones. You can also add appropriate perlite and vermiculite. This kind of soil has very good air permeability and is suitable for the growth of cactus.

2. Humus soil + sandy soil + rice husk ash: For growing cactus, you can prepare the soil yourself at home. Choose humus soil, sandy soil, and rice husk ash and mix them in a ratio of 6:4:2. This kind of soil is rich in nutrients and has good drainage, and it is not easy to have water accumulation.

Cactus soil replacement

Before changing the soil for the cactus, you need to prepare suitable soil. After the soil is prepared, it must be exposed to the sun and sterilized by ultraviolet rays. Place the flower soil next to the ultraviolet lamp for four hours for thorough disinfection. Put a layer of broken bowl pieces at the bottom of the pot, cover it with soil, and then plant the cactus in it.
