How to propagate keel flower by cuttings

How to propagate keel flower by cuttings

Growing dragon bone flowers indoors can protect against radiation, but it should be noted that the juice of dragon bone flowers is poisonous. Be careful not to touch it during maintenance to avoid harm to your body. Dragon bone flowers are generally propagated by cuttings, and the operation is very simple and the survival rate is very high.

Time for cutting of keel flower

Because the dragon bone flower likes a warm and humid environment with not too strong sunlight, the best time for its cuttings is between May and September. If the temperature exceeds 35℃ during this period, stop cuttings immediately and wait until the temperature is suitable before carrying out cutting propagation.

Keel flower cutting method

When cutting the dragon bone flower, you must first choose relatively tender branches, and cut about 5-6 cm. When cutting the branches of the dragon bone flower, you must pay attention that the white juice flowing out of the wound is poisonous. After cutting, the wound must be sterilized and disinfected, and then placed in a cool and ventilated place. After the wound is dry, insert the selected branches into the prepared pot, and water the cuttings of the dragon bone flower, but don't water it too much. After about a month, the dragon bone flower will be able to take root, and the cuttings will be successful.

Rooting of keel flower cuttings

First, cut the branches of the dragon bone flower and dry them in the sun for disinfection. After drying, use a smaller pot with well-breathable soil. Do not use a deep pot. Insert the dried branches directly into the soil and water them thoroughly. In order to prevent the indoor ventilation from being poor in the later stage, which may cause rot on the branches, move them to a place with light, high temperature and good ventilation. When the surface of the soil in the pot is dry one or two centimeters, water it thoroughly in time. In two weeks at most, its roots will grow out, and the plant will slowly become strong and tough again, and then it will start to grow.
