How to grow water lilies

How to grow water lilies

1. Water flow

There are two ways to care for water lilies at home. One method is called pond cultivation, which is to place it in a pond. The water lilies can be planted in a flowerpot or basket and then placed in the water. There are also special water lily pots made of plastic with many holes around them. After planting, the soil surface of the flowerpot should be about 40 cm away from the water surface. In the pond, water lilies like still water and don’t like rapidly flowing water, so we need to pay more attention to the area where we place them. Also, they must be placed in a well-lit area. If they don’t see sunlight or see little sunlight, they will become weak and not bloom. The second method is potted planting or tank planting. We can directly plant the water lily in a basin of water or a large tank, or plant it in a small pot and then put it in the tank.

2. Soil

For water lilies, the soil used should be river mud or field mud rich in humus. When using, dry the soil first and break it up. When planting water lilies, put sufficient organic fertilizer in the lower part as base fertilizer, and then replant the water lilies.

3. Fill with water

After planting, fill water only enough to cover the soil surface. Do not fill too much water at one time to prevent the soil from floating to the water surface. As the new buds of the water lily sprout and the planting soil sticks together, we can gradually increase the water level to a depth of about 40 cm to meet its growth needs. Generally, the water surface of the cultivation pond should not be higher than one meter or lower than 20 cm, otherwise it will be unfavorable for its flowering and growth.

4. Maintenance

During the entire maintenance process, it is necessary to ensure that it is in a full light environment so that the flowers can bloom luxuriantly.
