How to keep a fortune tree alive at home (what to pay attention to when growing a fortune tree to make it grow fast)

The leaves of the money tree are evergreen all year round. Its biggest feature is that the leaves are palm-shaped. It also blooms, and the flowering period is mainly from April to May. The flowers come in many colors, including red, white or yellow, and the colors are bright.

Moreover, the fortune tree is not difficult to grow. If you want to promote its better growth, you only need to manage it according to its habits and formulate the correct maintenance methods, and you will soon see it growing wildly. So, how can you keep the fortune tree planted at home alive and growing fast?

First, maintain the environment

The money tree prefers a warm, humid environment with mild or diffuse sunlight, and the suitable growth temperature is 18 to 30°C.

The temperature in winter must be above 5℃, otherwise it will cause frost damage. In winter, as long as the temperature is kept above 18℃ and there is sufficient sunlight, it can grow as usual.

It is usually brought indoors in the winter of October, and then kept outdoors after the "Grain Rain" when the temperature rises to above 15 degrees Celsius.

After wintering in the house, the leaves are moved from indoors to outdoors to adapt to the light. At this time, the leaves are under weak light for a long time, the branches are thin, the petioles are drooping, and the leaves are light green. If the leaves are suddenly exposed to strong light, sunburn will occur.

Around mid-to-late March, when the temperature rises above 15 degrees Celsius, move the pots outdoors and expose them to direct morning or evening sunlight for 2 hours. Then slowly extend the light time until full light management is adopted.

Second, the soil for planting

The money tree has strict requirements on soil. Soil that is too acidic can easily lead to root rot after the soil becomes moist.

Too alkaline soil will not allow the roots to adapt well, which may cause the tree to not grow roots after a long time of planting, and the tree will continue to output nutrients, leading to death. Soil requirements: loose and breathable, good drainage, slightly acidic and light fertilizer.

It is recommended that you use mixed soil for planting money trees. Mix one-third of each of garden soil, humus soil and freshwater river sand. Add about one-tenth of perlite to increase air permeability .

Mixed soil can give full play to the advantages of the soil and is more suitable for the root growth environment of the money tree.

Third, water appropriately

The fortune tree is very sensitive to water. If there is a little water accumulation, the roots will rot. When watering, open the window to increase air circulation, and water thoroughly.

The general method of watering is “don’t water if the soil is not dry, and water thoroughly if it is”, but it needs to be mastered flexibly.

Generally, when caring for the plant indoors, water it 2 to 3 times in spring and winter, with a month between each watering, and spray it 3 to 5 times a week.

In summer and autumn, when the weather is hot and dry, you can dig your hands into the soil to a depth of about 5 cm to feel the moisture level of the soil. When it is dry, you can water it immediately. You can spray the leaves and trunk every morning and evening to wet them.

Fourth, appropriate amount of fertilization

The money tree is not very interested in fertilizers, so when fertilizing it, it must be done when it is outdoors.

Spring and autumn are the vigorous growth seasons for the money tree, and it is only in these two seasons that the money tree can be fertilized. First move the money tree outdoors to a location with scattered light, and let it adapt to the environment for about 10 days before fertilizing.

It is recommended to use organic fertilizer with long-lasting effect and mild fertilizer properties for fertilizing the money tree. Organic fertilizer is rich in the three elements of "nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium" required for growth. It can promote the growth of branches, leaves and roots at the same time.

When loosening the soil for the fortune tree, bury the "fermented sheep manure organic fertilizer" shallowly in the shallow surface of the flower soil. Once a month. Stop fertilizing half a month before bringing it indoors for maintenance.

Fifth, pruning of the fortune tree

After the money tree has grown naturally for a period of time, the extended branches will age and have a brown bark, and only then will new side buds sprout from this bark.

After a period of natural growth, you can shorten the thin, overgrown and disconnected branches in spring to shorten the branches and grow more lateral buds, making the crown more lush.

After the new buds have grown for a period of time, pay attention to selecting and discarding some of the branches, cutting off the overgrown branches, crossed branches, and ingrown branches, to ensure that the branches do not block each other's light and do not hinder ventilation.
