What fertilizer is best for Clivia

As for the plant Clivia, it is the most common plant for family flower cultivation, especially for some elderly people, who like to grow Clivia at home.

Clivia can bloom in winter every year. Normally, Clivia can bloom twice a year, once in winter and once in summer. If there are sufficient nutrients, it is guaranteed to bloom twice a year .

Clivia needs to be fertilized at least twice a year. When the weather is warm in spring, Clivia will enter the growth period.

At this time, fertilization is needed. After entering autumn, the weather becomes cooler, and the growth rate of Clivia will also accelerate, and fertilization is also needed. Below we will introduce the fertilization of Clivia in daily maintenance.

1. Fertilization during the leaf viewing period

Clivia needs to grow for more than 5 years to bloom, and the leaves need to reach more than 6 pairs . So when Clivia is not blooming, it is mainly for viewing leaves. The leaves are shiny, the texture is clear, and the leaves are thick, which are the top grade for viewing leaves.

During the leaf-raising stage, nitrogen should be the main source, while phosphorus and potassium should be the supplementary sources . Nitrogen promotes the growth of leaves. Phosphorus and potassium promote the growth of roots, which can increase the absorption of nutrients in the soil to the highest level.

It is recommended to apply organic fertilizer with balanced nutrients during the leaf growth stage. You can use "bean cake fertilizer water" with high nitrogen content. Among organic fertilizers, bean cake has a relatively high "nitrogen" content.

It is recommended to use the loose soil method and bury it shallowly in the soil surface. Fertilize once a month and follow the principle of " applying thin fertilizer frequently, and prefer less to more" .

2. Fertilize before flowering

If the leaves of Clivia are maintained for more than 5 years and reach more than 6 pairs, it can bloom in the same year . The flowering period is generally between New Year's Day and the Lantern Festival of the following year. The flowering period is around the Mid-Autumn Festival in autumn.

When applying fertilizer, pay attention to the differences between the north and the south. Do not apply fertilizer when the temperature is high. When the temperature drops to 28 degrees Celsius, apply fertilizer with a bias towards "phosphorus and potassium" to promote flowering.

During the flowering period, it is recommended that you use " potassium dihydrogen phosphate " for foliar spraying. Dilute "potassium dihydrogen phosphate" with water about 1200 times and spray it on the leaves and pseudobulbs of Clivia.

For a single fertilization operation, spray three times in a row with a half-hour interval between each spray. Apply fertilizer a second time after an interval of 8 days, and a third time after another 8 days. This will promote flowering.

Precautions for fertilizing Clivia

1. When fertilizing Clivia, apply less fertilizer to weak seedlings and more fertilizer to strong seedlings .

2. When applying fertilizer, please note that you should not apply fertilizer in winter when the temperature is low, and you should not apply fertilizer in summer when the temperature is high. Fertilization should be based on the temperature between 16 and 28 degrees Celsius.

3. Fertilize in the afternoon when the weather is fine and keep the air well ventilated. After fertilizing, the Clivia should be placed in a location where it can receive weak light for 5 hours a day for the best fertilization effect.
