Cornflower seeds planting method and precautions When is the best time to sow

Cornflower seeds can be harvested when the inflorescence has just turned yellow. If the inflorescence is too mature, the cornflower seeds will be more likely to fall off.

Most of the time, the whole plant is harvested when the inflorescence is withered and yellow, and then the seeds are threshed after drying. They are then stored in a cool and dry place and sown when the temperature warms up. Some seeds have the ability to self-sow.

Cornflower seed sowing time

The best time to sow cornflower seeds is in spring or autumn . The climate and temperature at this time are suitable for the germination of cornflower seeds, and its cold resistance is relatively strong. Therefore, it is recommended to sow them around September in autumn , so that they can bloom around March of the following spring.

How to plant cornflower seeds

The planting method of cornflowers is relatively simple. Cornflower seeds can be directly sown directly. For large-scale planting, they can also be broadcasted. For small areas, they can also be transplanted.

Choose loose and fertile soil as the bed, spread the seeds evenly on the bed, and cover with 0.5-1 cm of soil, so that the cornflower seeds are not visible. Then water it appropriately. When it is dry in summer, water it once in the morning and evening, but do not allow water to accumulate. It will germinate a week after sowing.
