Sweet potato potted planting method Home soilless sweet potato cultivation method

Flowers and plants can decorate your home and balcony, making it more cozy, beautiful, comfortable and tidy. In fact, it is also easy to grow some vegetable plants, such as potted sweet potatoes. They grow every day, grow very fast, and look lush, full of vitality and hope. They are not only beautiful but also delicious.

Potted sweet potato planting method

1. Seedling cultivation

As long as the sweet potato is not broken or moldy, it can be used. When the temperature is right, it will sprout quickly. If it has already sprouted, it is even better, and the roots and leaves can be grown faster. But it doesn’t matter if it has not sprouted. As the temperature gradually rises, place it in moist sandy soil and then place it in a ventilated and shaded place. It will grow many sprouts and seedlings in less than a week.

2. Hydroponics

If you don’t want to plant it in the soil, you can also use hydroponics directly, so that you can grow a lot of sweet potato leaves. Just prepare a larger container, then put the sprouted sweet potatoes in it, then add half water, and then change the water frequently before the root system has grown enough. When the root system has grown well, you can just water it less.

3. Transplanting

Plant the sprouted sweet potatoes in potting soil. When more sprouts grow and they are ten centimeters long, we can cut them off and re-transplant them into other pots. They will soon grow roots. However, the potting soil must be fertile and loose. It is best to add some organic fertilizer, or some leaf mold.

Sweet potato care precautions

When hydroponically cultivating, be sure not to let the water completely cover the sweet potato, so as to avoid it rotting and dying. Change the water frequently during maintenance, and add a few drops of nutrient solution according to the growth. If the roots of sweet potatoes rot when cultivating potted plants, just remove the rotten part and reduce the amount of water. If a large area of rot occurs, it is recommended to re-cultivate.
