What vegetables are suitable for planting in the shade?

Most vegetables prefer an environment with sufficient light, especially fruit vegetables. If the light is weak, the flowers and fruits will easily fall off. However, there are some vegetables that prefer sufficient light and are very shade-tolerant, while some vegetables just prefer a low-light environment and will not grow well with sufficient light.

The shady side is suitable for planting shade-tolerant vegetables, such as radish seedlings, lettuce, ginger, garlic, garlic sprouts, water spinach, wood ear vegetable, bean sprouts, asparagus, sweet potato, toon, leek, onion, etc. These vegetables all have a certain degree of shade tolerance, but for some vegetables, although they can tolerate shade, they may grow better if given a little light.

1. Garlic sprouts

Garlic sprouts are a particularly shade-tolerant vegetable and are suitable for planting in the shade. You should know that when this vegetable is growing, it requires a maintenance environment without any light, otherwise the garlic sprouts will turn into garlic sprouts, affecting its original taste.

2. Leek

During the growth and development period, leeks require medium-intensity natural light and have a strong tolerance to weak light, making them very suitable for planting in the shade. Not only will weak light not affect the growth and development of leeks, but it will also make leeks more tender and not too overcooked when eaten.

3. Water spinach

Water spinach does not require much light and is relatively shade-tolerant among vegetables. Daily care by placing the potted plants in a place with bright diffuse light is enough for the water spinach to grow healthily. Water spinach is also particularly easy to reproduce and the branches will take root when inserted into water.

4. Ginger

Ginger has a wide adaptability to light during its growth period, especially when the plant is a small seedling. It can definitely be considered a particularly shade-tolerant vegetable. Experienced farmers will plant ginger under shade trees, and potted plants are very suitable for indoor maintenance.

5. Bean sprouts

Bean sprouts are particularly shade-tolerant vegetables, and when growing bean sprouts, they require a maintenance environment without light. Otherwise, if there is light, the leaves of the bean sprouts will turn green and will not taste good. Therefore, it is suitable to be planted on the shady side.
