How to care for Monstera

How to care for Monstera

Do not expose to direct sunlight

Although Monstera is produced in the tropics, it is afraid of direct sunlight and drought, otherwise it will easily cause leaves to wither. Monstera should be placed in a shaded place indoors, especially in the summer, try not to put it on the balcony in direct sunlight, as it will easily wither and die. In winter, when the temperature drops, you can increase the sunlight exposure appropriately, but avoid excessive exposure to the sun.

Sufficient water

To ensure that Monstera has sufficient water, the culture soil must always be kept moist. During the summer growing period, water it once in the morning and once in the evening, and also sprinkle water on the leaves frequently to keep the leaves bright and the air moist. In winter, water evaporates slowly, so water the plants once every 3-4 days. In other seasons, it can be taken once a day.

Fertilization should be appropriate

Monstera is relatively fertilizer-loving, so be sure to fertilize it appropriately. During the growth period, apply thin cake fertilizer water once half a month. If there is enough fertilizer and water, the Monstera will grow with pleasant leaves. You can apply fertilizer flexibly according to the growth of Monstera on a daily basis, but avoid making it too large.

Change the pot in time

This is a problem that many flower lovers ignore, thinking that as long as the plants have enough water and fertilizer, everything will be fine. In fact, Monstera needs to be repotted once a year, which can be done between March and April. When repotting, remove part of the old soil and replace it with new soil, cut off the dead roots, and then add decomposed organic fertilizer or phosphorus and potassium fertilizers as base fertilizer in the pot. After repotting, the Monstera will have an adaptation period of 1 to 2 weeks, after which it will thrive.
