Planting methods and time of southern white radish Optimal planting time and technical management

Suitable planting time for white radish in the south

White radishes in the south are generally planted in spring, preferably in April, when the temperature is suitable for growth, neither too hot nor too cold. They should not be planted later than October at the latest, because the weather is gradually turning cooler at that time, and white radishes cannot tolerate relatively low temperatures and are prone to frostbite.

Planting methods and key points of white radish in the south

1. Site selection

Before planting white radish in the south, you need to choose a place in the field that can get sunlight, has fertile soil and good terrain, deep plow the soil, apply sufficient organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility, and then dig several trenches with a depth of about 15-30cm and a width of 10-15cm on the required land.

2. Planting

You can sprinkle high-quality white radish seeds in the dug trench, then cover the seeds with a layer of soil and water them once. The first time, you should water the soil thoroughly to make it grow better, but be careful not to cause water accumulation, otherwise it will be detrimental to its growth.

Key points for daily management of southern white radish

1. Thinning seedlings

After the southern white radish seedlings grow out, they need to be thinned out. First, remove the thinner seedlings. If some of the seedlings grow too densely, 2 to 3 plants need to be pulled out. When pulling out, do it according to the white radish's own conditions to prevent them from affecting each other's growth.

2. Water appropriately

White radish cannot lack water. If the soil lacks water, the radish will suffer from a serious lack of water, which will affect the taste and may also cause withering. Therefore, it is necessary to water it in time during normal times. However, during the rainy season, watering should be controlled. If there is water accumulation, it should be drained as soon as possible.
