Can the evergreen be repotted in summer? Transplanting and repotting time and precautions

Can the evergreen be repotted in summer?

The evergreen plant should not be repotted in the summer because the temperature is high, water evaporates quickly, and the growth rate of the plant slows down. If it is repotted at this time, it will be difficult for the plant to adapt to the new pot, which will reduce the survival rate. It is best to repot the evergreen plant around the Qingming Festival when the temperature is relatively stable. You can choose to repot it in the morning or afternoon on a cloudy day, which will help it adapt to growth as soon as possible.

How to repot Dieffenbachia

1. Remove from the basin

Take the evergreen out of the pot, clean the old soil from the roots so that more roots can come into contact with fresh soil, trim off the rotten and excess roots, sterilize them with a fungicide before potting, and place them in a cool place to dry.

2. Prepare the soil

Dieffenbachia usually chooses a deeper ceramic pot, which has good water permeability and air permeability, which is conducive to the growth of Dieffenbachia. The substrate can be mixed with 2 parts of humus soil, 2 parts of forest leaf humus, 2 parts of sandy garden soil, 2 parts of slag ash and 2 parts of decomposed manure.

3. Steps for changing pots

Place tiles at the bottom of the flowerpot, then fill it with soft, breathable and water-permeable soil, filling it halfway up the flowerpot. Plant the evergreen in it, then fill it up with soil and gently compact it with your hands, but not too tight.

Things to note when repotting Dieffenbachia

After repotting the evergreen, it should be watered once to promote the close combination of the roots and the soil, so that it can adapt to the pot faster. In addition, the evergreen has strong shade tolerance and likes to grow in a humid semi-shaded or scattered light environment. Therefore, it should not be exposed to direct light after repotting and should be maintained in a place with scattered light.
