Which month is suitable for planting Chinese cabbage?

Chinese cabbage can be divided into three types according to the sowing time. The first early-maturing variety is generally sown in August, and can be sown as early as July depending on local conditions. The second mid-maturing variety can be sown from August to September. The third late-maturing variety is best sown in August.

How to plant Chinese cabbage

1. About a week before sowing cabbage, we need to plow the land. While plowing, add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to the soil. It is appropriate to use about 5,000 kilograms of organic fertilizer per acre of land.

2. You can choose to sow in rows or in holes. Use about 200 grams of seeds per mu. The number of plants to be planted should be determined according to the variety of cabbage to be planted. Usually, 3,500 plants are planted per mu, and about 2,500 plants per mu for the embracing type.

Points to note when planting Chinese cabbage

1. Chinese cabbage is easily eaten by insects during the planting period, so it is important to pay attention to whether there are insect pests throughout its growth period. When the pests are serious, they may even eat up all the leaves, so timely treatment should be carried out.

2. Cabbage loves sunlight very much and is suitable to be planted in places where the light hours are sufficient. If there is insufficient light, it will seriously affect the yield of cabbage. However, in summer, appropriate shade should be provided to avoid leaf burns.
