Onion planting time and method cultivation technology and key points

Onion planting time

Onions are suitable for sowing around April every spring. At this time, the temperature and humidity are most conducive to the growth of onions. After planting, it is also necessary to provide it with sufficient water to ensure the normal development of the plant, and it is also necessary to fertilize it every ten days to provide it with the necessary nutrients to make it grow faster and produce higher yields.

Onion planting methods and key points

1. Variety selection

Choose varieties that are suitable for the planting area. Common varieties include Zhangqiu scallion, Chinese scallion, etc. Suitable varieties can be more easily propagated, the onions grown will be less spicy, and the white part will be shorter, so the onion leaves can be used to eat.

2. Site selection and land preparation

When planting onions, you should choose sandy loam with deep, fertile soil and good water-locking ability. You should turn the soil over and plow it deeply in advance, probably to a place about 25 cm from the ground. Onions cannot grow without fertilizer, so you can also add some base fertilizer to the soil.

Onion planting precautions

1. Temperature requirements

Onions are relatively cold-resistant and heat-resistant. Normal temperatures do not have much impact on their growth, but suitable temperature conditions will better improve yield and quality.

2. Humidity requirements

Onions have relatively few roots and a very poor ability to absorb water and nutrients, and they cannot penetrate deep into the soil. However, they like water very much, so people who grow them need to increase the frequency of watering according to soil conditions.
