In which month is coriander usually planted?

Which month is suitable for planting coriander?

Coriander can be planted all year round, but autumn coriander is more commonly planted in September. The weather at this time is not so hot, and its germination rate will be better.

However, you can also plant those varieties that are resistant to high temperatures in August, but the germination rate will not be very good. You can also plant coriander around April, but don't bury it too deep.

Coriander Origin and Planting Time

Coriander is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe. It was brought back to China from the Western Regions by Zhang Qian during the Western Han Dynasty in China. It is now grown in all regions of my country. Coriander is generally planted around September in areas with higher temperatures, and around April in areas with lower temperatures.

Coriander planting methods and key points

1. Seed treatment

Because the shell of coriander seeds is relatively hard, ordinary sowing methods will slow down germination, so before sowing, spread the seeds on a flat ground, use a soft tool to rub them evenly to crack the shell, and then you can sow them directly.

2. Variety selection

There are two varieties of coriander, large-leaf and small-leaf. The large-leaf variety has taller plants and larger leaves. It has a lighter fragrance and a higher yield.

However, the plants of small-leaf varieties are shorter, the leaves are smaller, the fragrance is stronger, but they are more cold-resistant and have stronger adaptability, but the yield is relatively low, so small-leaf varieties are generally chosen for planting.
