Is the red maple a shade or sun-loving plant?

Does the red maple prefer shade or sun?

Red maple is a sun-loving plant and a species of the Aceraceae family. It is a small deciduous tree and likes light very much. Therefore, when cultivating it, it must be placed in a light environment so that it can absorb sufficient sunlight and make its leaves bright red and lasting.

Red maple basking in the sun

Red maple has requirements for light. It needs to be placed in a warm, well-lit place and absorb enough sunlight so that it can grow quickly and the color of its leaves can change. Especially during its growth period, it should receive more sunlight.

Although red maple can be exposed to the sun, it is afraid of excessive exposure to the sun. If exposed to strong light, its branches and leaves will wither and the plant will become severely dehydrated, which will affect its growth rate.

Growth habits of red maple

1. Red maple likes to grow in warm and fertile places, and the land should be permeable and breathable.

2. The soil needs to be kept moist during its growing period, and watering is very important. Replenishing water can make its branches and leaves more bright red, the appearance more beautiful, and accelerate the growth rate.

3. It likes sunlight. In order to make its maple leaves redder, it must get sufficient light regularly, but it is not sun-resistant, so it should also avoid exposure to sunlight to prevent the leaves from withering.

4. It is drought-resistant and acid-resistant, so it can grow in slightly moist soil or where the soil pH is below 7.

5. It is cold-resistant and can grow normally in winter at -20℃. It is also heat-resistant and can grow in summer when the temperature is above 30℃, so its suitable growth temperature is 20~30℃.
