How to deal with the cut-off seedlings of African violets

Treatment methods for African violet beheaded seedlings

The best time to cut off and replant African violets is in spring and autumn, because the temperature is more suitable at this time, the plants grow well and take root quickly.

First, you need to prepare the substrate and mix the three-in-one or two-in-one with wet soil. Remove as many unnecessary leaves as possible. The strong leaves that are removed are excellent materials for cuttings. Only a few necessary leaves should be retained so that less nutrients are consumed. Then you can start removing the plant from the pot, making a cross cut near the soil surface, leaving about 1-2 cm for fixing. In addition, it is best to retain 1-2 thin roots. The purpose of doing this is to prevent the leaves from wilting less easily in the early stages of cuttings. Then carefully peel off the skin of the stem, using your fingernails or a knife. Let the processed hair dry first.

After the wound has dried, that is, when it turns white, it can be potted and the soil should be compacted slightly to make the roots of the plant more closely integrated with the soil. Be careful not to water after planting. Just wet soil and dry seeds will do. This will help maintain the moisture and air permeability of the roots and avoid rot.
