When is the best time to take cuttings of chrysanthemums?

Chrysanthemum cutting time

Chrysanthemum cuttings are generally carried out from March to June. At this time, cuttings can promote the rapid growth of the plants and increase the survival rate of the seedlings. If properly maintained, new roots will grow in about 7 days and they will be able to grow normally in about a month.

Chrysanthemum cutting method and steps

1. Cut branches

Cut cuttings from the well-growing chrysanthemum mother plant, the length should be about 20 cm. The cuttings must have terminal buds and leaf buds, and then soak them in rooting water for about two hours.

2. Insert into the soil

After the soil is prepared, you can start cuttings. Poke a small hole on the surface of the soil, put the cuttings in it, then gently compact the surrounding soil, and then spray water appropriately.

Maintenance matters after chrysanthemum cuttings

1. After the chrysanthemum is cut, place it in a semi-shaded, ventilated environment for maintenance. Avoid direct sunlight, otherwise the plant will easily be sunburned, resulting in the failure of the cuttings to survive.

2. The soil for chrysanthemum cuttings needs to be fertile and loose, because it consumes a lot of nutrients during its growth process. You can use leaf mold, cake fertilizer residue, and sandy soil in a ratio of 4:2:1.
