Variegated Vinca is a variety of Vinca rosea in the genus Vinca in the Apocynaceae family. Therefore, it has many similarities with Vinca.

Variegated vinca is a small plant with a small body and a short stature. Like Vinca, Vinca variegata is also a climbing semi-shrub with climbing and creeping branches. The leaves are oval in shape, opposite in orientation, and brightly colored. Variegated Vinca also blooms, and its flowers are very similar to those of Vinca, with bright colors and delicate shapes.

But there are still differences between variegated vinca and Vinca. The leaves of Vinca are emerald green. Although the leaves of Vinca variegated are also green, the edges of its leaves are creamy yellow with white and yellow-white spots. It looks more colorful and more ornamental.

At this point, the two are still easy to distinguish.

Growth habits of variegated vinca

Since variegated vinca is a variant of vinca, in addition to their similarities in appearance, the two also have very similar growth habits.

Variegated vinca is also a plant that likes semi-shady environment, and is heat-resistant and cold-resistant, and evergreen all year round. It grows quickly and can easily form patches when grown outdoors, making it a good ground cover plant.

The water and fertilizer management of variegated vinca is very similar to that of vinca, such as sufficient watering during the growing period, attention to drainage during the rainy season, and fertilization 1 to 2 times a month. Variegated vinca is a plant that can be easily cultivated.

The uniqueness of variegated vinca

The variegated catharanthus has gorgeous colors and unique leaf shapes. Compared with Vinca, the leaves of variegated catharanthus have white edges and yellow-white spots, making them more colorful. Therefore, variegated vinca is more ornamental.
