How to make Yacon sprout quickly

How to make Yacon sprout quickly

Yacon germination environment

After the yacon is dug up, the bulbs can be cut off, placed in a well-ventilated environment to dry, then soaked in potassium permanganate solution for about 3 minutes, fished out and buried in the cellar with sand, and can be planted in the spring of the following year.

Yacon is not tolerant to low temperature environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 18-24 degrees. It is suitable for growing in places with large temperature difference between day and night and foggy places. It has very high requirements for water quality. It is best to use stored spring water or mountain spring water to improve the quality. It is best to plant it on red sandy soil, red soil and sandy loam with loose soil and good ventilation.

Yacon germination process

Yacon is generally planted in spring. When the temperature stabilizes at above 15 degrees, sow the yacon in the loam that has been dug in advance, then lightly cover it with a layer of soil to keep the soil moist. After about a week of maintenance, the yacon will germinate.

Direct planting of yacon seeds

Yacon itself has no seeds and is mainly propagated by tubers, which can be placed directly in the soil and will germinate quickly.

Yacon Seed Germination

When planting yacon, the soil temperature should be controlled between 20-26 degrees. Place the seeds flat in the dug holes and cover with one centimeter of soil. They will germinate and grow into seedlings in about eight days.

How to plant yacon sprouts

Cut the yacon into small pieces, leaving a few buds on each piece, and then plant them in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Water it once to keep the soil moist, and it will sprout soon. It should be noted that when fertilizing it, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides should be used, as this will affect its growth or cause poor growth.
