How many times can Ganoderma be planted in a year?

Ganoderma lucidum is a precious Chinese medicinal material and food ingredient with multiple functions and effects. Ganoderma lucidum usually grows in broad-leaved forests with scattered light. It requires suitable humidity and sufficient light, and prefers to grow in a slightly acidic environment. So how many times can Ganoderma be planted in a year? Let’s take a look with the editor below.

1. How many times can Ganoderma lucidum be planted in a year?

Ganoderma lucidum can generally be planted 2 to 3 times a year. If a cycle of cultivation is carried out, one bag of Ganoderma lucidum spawn can produce 2 to 3 crops of Ganoderma lucidum in a year. In addition, under suitable conditions, Ganoderma lucidum can grow 8-10 times a year, but the actual number of growth times is affected by many factors, such as unstable environmental temperature, insufficient soil moisture, and insufficient nutrients.

Under suitable planting conditions, such as proper control of temperature, humidity, light, ventilation, etc., Ganoderma lucidum will grow faster, thereby increasing the number of planting times. Ganoderma lucidum can be planted 2 to 3 times a year, sometimes even 3 to 5 times.

2. Ganoderma cultivation method

1. Choose culture medium

The culture medium should be fresh, dry, nutritious and contain few foreign bacteria. Commonly used culture medium formulas include 79% cottonseed hulls, 20% wheat bran , 1% sucrose, or 50% corn cob residues, 30% wood chips, 20% wheat bran, etc. The moisture content of the mixed material needs to be controlled between 60%-65%.

2. Bagging and sterilization

Put the culture medium into plastic bags, about 1 kg per bag, and tie the bag mouth tightly and seal it after filling. Then put the fungus bag into the sterilization chamber, raise the temperature to 100℃, and maintain it for 10-12 hours for sterilization.

3. Inoculation and culture

When the temperature of the fungus bag drops below 30℃, inoculation is carried out. Punch holes in the bag, insert the fungus into the holes, and then seal the bag. Place the inoculated bacteria bags in the culture room and maintain appropriate temperature, humidity and ventilation conditions. Generally speaking, the spawning period is about 15-20 days, during which time the mycelium will gradually grow out of the surface of the culture medium.

4. Bag opening and moisture removal

When the mycelium has grown all over the culture medium, the bag is opened to allow the Ganoderma lucidum fruiting bodies to grow. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain appropriate humidity, which is generally required to be between 85% and 95%.

5. Temperature control

The best temperature for growing mushrooms is 26-28℃. In special climates, low temperatures of 20℃ and high temperatures of 35℃ are acceptable for a short period of time, but they cannot last too long. Temperatures that are too low or too high will affect the growth and quality of Ganoderma lucidum.

6. Ventilation management

Ganoderma lucidum is an aerobic fungus and requires a lot of oxygen from the budding process to the cap differentiation stage, so appropriate ventilation conditions should be maintained. When the cap grows to more than 3 cm, the ventilation volume should be properly controlled to increase the carbon dioxide concentration in the greenhouse so that the cap will develop in thickness.

7. Lighting management

Ganoderma lucidum requires scattered light, the intensity of which increases with the age of the ganoderma. Before budding occurs, strong light can be used to stimulate Ganoderma lucidum to promote its budding. After the finger-like protrusions emerge, maintain appropriate light intensity, such as 100-200 lux, to promote cap differentiation. After the cap is formed, just maintain normal light at about 300 lux.

The above is an introduction to how many times Ganoderma lucidum can be planted in a year. When the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum are mature, they can be cut or pulled out from the mushroom bag with scissors or tweezers. Be careful not to damage the roots and caps of Ganoderma lucidum when harvesting.
