Cherry growing conditions and regional climate

Introduction to Cherry

Big cherry is a plant of the Rosaceae family. Big cherry is also called Yingqing fruit, cherry pearl, and cherry. Varieties include Early Ruby, Red Lantern, and Black Pearl.

Cherry Planting Conditions

Big cherry seedlings like an environment with plenty of sunlight. In an environment with plenty of light, the trees are strong, the fruit branches have a long lifespan, the fruit set rate is high, the fruits mature early, and the fruits have a high sugar content. If the maintenance environment lacks light, it is difficult for them to bear fruit.

Climate and temperature for cherry cultivation

Sweet cherries are suitable for growing in subtropical humid climates and temperate continental climates. They begin to sprout when the daily average temperature is above 10 degrees Celsius, bloom when the temperature is above 15 degrees, and new shoots grow fastest above 20 degrees. The fruit matures after 50-60 days when the temperature is 20-25 degrees.

Suitable areas for growing cherry

Cherries are often distributed on the sunny sides of hillsides or along ditches at an altitude of 300-600 meters. There are many places producing cherries, and they are produced in the northern hemisphere of the world. In my country, they are mainly produced in Liaoning, Hebei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Guizhou, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Sichuan and other places.

Cherry planting time

Big cherries are suitable for planting before budding in spring and after leaf fall in autumn, that is, in late winter or early spring, and the survival rate is relatively high.

The benefits of cherry planting

Planting cherries on land with fertile soil generally requires an investment of about 2,000 yuan for seedlings, and about 1,000 yuan for fertilizers and pesticides during the growth period. Together with the usual management costs, a total of 3,000-4,000 yuan is required.

One acre can produce about 3,000 kilograms of cherries. The purchase price of better quality cherries is about 60 yuan per kilogram. The income per acre is about 50,000 to 60,000 yuan. Excluding the planting costs, the planting benefit per acre is about 40,000 to 50,000 yuan.
