Dangshan pear seed sowing method

Dangshan pear seed sowing method

Dangshan pear seed sowing time

The best time to sow Dangshan pear seeds is from February to May and from September to November each year. The pear seeds sown during these two times have the highest germination rate and grow the best.

Dangshan pear is generally propagated by grafting, with the rootstock being the pear seedling. After the grafted pear tree survives, it will normally bloom and bear fruit in the second year. If it is propagated by sowing, it will take a longer time.

Dangshan pear seeds are sown in summer

Dangshan pears can be planted in summer. Some pear tree varieties are more suitable for planting in summer. However, water evaporation is more vigorous in summer. When raising seedlings in the early stage, pay attention to keeping the soil moist.

Dangshan pear seed sowing method

First of all, if you want to grow Dangshan pear well, the choice of seeds is critical. You must choose the right ones. There are many types of pears. When you choose seeds, you first need to understand the characteristics of the planting site, including the weather, soil, and the degree of pest threat. After buying the seeds, you must screen them, throw away some dry and shriveled seeds, and leave the fuller seeds for sowing.

The cultivation of Dangshan pear requires timely fertilization, because it requires fertilizer very much for its growth. When the fruit is in the growth period, foliar fertilization should also be carried out, which is necessary about 3 times. In addition, it also requires a lot of water. It is necessary to ensure that the moisture content in the soil is sufficient. When the weather is very dry, it is necessary to water it frequently to increase the moisture content of the fruit trees.

Seed treatment

The seeds of Dangshan pear are generally stored in sand. After taking out the seeds, soak them in water, then mix them evenly with 3-5 times the amount of wet sand, place them in a sunny and sheltered place, lay plastic film underneath, and cover them with about 5 cm of wet sand. Plastic film is also needed on top. After a winter low-temperature treatment, the seeds will turn white in the spring of the following year and can be sown.

Seed germination

Dangshan pear seeds germinate relatively quickly, usually 5 to 7 days after sowing. Of course, this assumes that the seeds have been processed, such as being stored in sand or treated with low-temperature germination.

Seed germination

After the Dangshan pear seedlings emerge, Bordeaux mixture can be used for sterilization. Fungicides and insecticides can be used after the flowers fall during the flowering period, every 15 to 20 days until mid-August. During the fruit swelling period, 3 to 5 kg of potassium sulfate type compound fertilizer should be applied to the roots of the fruit trees. During the coloring period, 3/1000 urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be sprayed on the leaves. After the fruits are picked, attention should be paid to insect prevention and control, and the garden should be cleared in time after the leaves fall.
