Navel orange planting conditions and climatic conditions for growth

Navel Orange Introduction

Navel orange is a plant of the Rutaceae family, genus Citrus. It was originally distributed in the United States and later introduced to China. Its nicknames are embracing orange and double-headed orange. There are many varieties of navel orange. The common ones on the market are Zigui navel orange, Gannan navel orange, Xinfeng navel orange, Anyuan navel orange, Xunwu navel orange, Longgou navel orange, Fengjie navel orange and Fuchuan navel orange.

Navel Orange Planting Conditions

Navel oranges are suitable for growing in loose, fertile, well-drained acidic soil with a pH value of 5.5 to 6.5. They prefer warm, humid, sunny environments. If there is sufficient light, the sugar content of the fruit will increase and the quality will also improve.

The main producing areas of navel oranges are the United States, Brazil and other regions. They are grown in 12 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China, including Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan. Navel oranges were introduced to China through numerous introductions and cultivations in the early 20th century.

Navel orange planting time

Navel oranges can be planted in spring, usually at the end of February, and can also be planted in September. Generally, transplanting begins after the branches are fully mature. At this time, the ground temperature has not yet completely dropped, so as long as there is sufficient water in the soil, the transplanting rate can be guaranteed.

Benefits of Navel Orange Planting

50 navel orange trees can be planted per acre of land, and they will enter the high-yield period after more than 6 years of maintenance. The weight of the fruit is more than 300 grams, and the yield per acre is about 6,000 kilograms. The annual investment per acre is nearly 3,000 yuan, so the net profit reaches 7,000 yuan.
