Panax notoginseng is suitable for cultivation in Yunnan and Guangxi regions of my country. Most of them are domestically grown and mainly produced in the counties of Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan. It is also grown in Jingxi, Debao, Tianyang, Tiandong and other places in Guangxi. It is a famous medicinal material.

The growth cycle of Panax notoginseng is three years, of which one year is needed for seedling cultivation. It can be harvested two years after planting. It grows well in a cool and humid environment. It is suitable to be planted on hillsides with an altitude of 700-1500 meters. The soil should be loose, deep, sandy loam with a rich humus layer.

Growth rate of Panax notoginseng

Panax notoginseng grows relatively slowly. It takes more than three years from sowing to harvesting. One-year-old Panax notoginseng is only considered a seedling. After transplanting, it will bloom and bear fruit from the second year. It blooms in August and bears fruit in September. The stamens are picked after August, dried and can be soaked in water as tea. After September, the flowers are firm and mature, which become Panax notoginseng seeds.

Panax notoginseng is a perennial herb with a relatively long growing period and a very short dormant period. Its yield increases year by year with the age of the tree, and the yield per mu can reach 500 kilograms during the peak fruit-bearing period.

Temperature management : The suitable growth temperature of Panax notoginseng is 18-25℃, and the annual average temperature in the planting area is best at 18-19℃. The germination temperature of its seeds is between 10-30℃, the optimal temperature is 20℃, and it is very sensitive to light.

Fertilization management : When caring for Panax notoginseng, more attention should be paid to base fertilizer and topdressing, and foliar fertilizer should be applied in time. High-quality Panax notoginseng cultivation needs to be based on farmyard manure, and it should be applied with an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer. The ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be 2:1:3. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizers will cause the quality of Panax notoginseng to decline.
