The difference between Verbena and Plum

The difference between Verbena and Plum

1. Flower Difference

Verbena is a group of small flowers gathered together in a terminal spike inflorescence. The individual bracts are nearly lanceolate, the calyx is an elongated tube, and the corolla is funnel-shaped. The flowers have many colors, and it is possible for a single flower to have multiple colors. The flowering period is from May to November and lasts for a long time.

The five-color plum also has multiple small flowers clustered and arranged, but the individual flowers are relatively small, eventually presenting a hemispherical inflorescence head. The individual bracts are lanceolate, the calyx is tubular, about 1.5 mm long, and the color of the corolla is initially yellow or orange-yellow, and turns deep red after flowering. The flowering period is generally from June to October, and there are flowers almost all year round.

2. Leaf Difference

The leaves of the former are oval or lanceolate-triangular in shape, with neat rounded and blunt serrations on the edges.

The latter has leaves that are ovate to ovate-oblong, about 3-8.5 cm long, with blunt teeth on the edges, a rough, wrinkled surface, and small bristles on the back of the leaves.

3. Different plant types

The former has a relatively short plant, about 30-50 cm in length.

The latter plant is relatively tall. It is a shrub with a height of about 1-2 meters. Sometimes it appears in a vine-like shape and can reach about 4 meters.
