Introduction to Mustard Growth Mustard is mostly distributed in provinces south of the Yangtze River, and is cultivated in coastal provinces in the east, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the west, Sanya City, Hainan Province in the south, and Heilongjiang Province in the north. Mustard growth cycle Mustard likes cool weather and avoids heat. It needs strong light conditions. Its growth requires low-temperature vernalization and sufficient long-day conditions. Its growth period is short, about 30 days, and it can be harvested when it grows 10-12 leaves. Growth rate of mustard Mustard seedling stage: from the emergence of true leaves to the formation of the first leaf ring, it usually takes 20-30 days under suitable temperature conditions. Rosette stage: from the formation of the first leaf ring to the second leaf ring, it takes 30-40 days. Product organ formation stage: after growing 2-3 leaf rings, it enters the product organ formation stage and begins to grow leaf bulbs. Management of mustard growth cycle Mustard is harvested in batches, 4 to 5 times in 30 to 35 days after sowing, with a total yield of 2,500 to 3,000 kg per mu. Autumn shepherd's purse sown in early October needs 45 to 60 days before it can be harvested. Shepherd's purse sown in late February is harvested and put on the market in early April. Spring sowing is generally harvested 1 to 2 times, with a yield of about 1,000 kg per mu. Temperature management: Mustard greens grow best in an environment of 15-22 degrees. When the temperature is higher than 25 degrees Celsius, growth will be slow, affecting the quality of the dish; when the temperature is lower than 12 degrees Celsius, plant growth will be inhibited. Fertilization management : Mustard is generally grown mainly on farmyard manure, and some wood ash and superphosphate can be added. All the fertilizers should be evenly spread on the land, and then mixed with the soil when plowing. |
