Lemon's growing environment and local conditions

Lemon growing environment and conditions

Lemons are native to Malaysia and are distributed in the United States, Italy, France, the Mediterranean coast, Southeast Asia, and the Americas. They are also cultivated in Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places in China.

Lemon Growing Conditions

Lemon prefers warm, sunny environments, is not resistant to high or low temperature environments, is relatively shade-tolerant, and is suitable for cultivation in areas with warm winters and cool summers. It is not demanding on soil, but is suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained soil.

Lemon growing temperature

Lemon likes a warm environment. The annual average temperature suitable for its growth is between 17 and 19 degrees. The annual effective accumulated temperature (≥10°C) is above 5500 degrees. The average temperature in January should be between 6 and 8 degrees. It is not resistant to low temperatures and can only tolerate a short period of minus 3 degrees.

Lemon growth process

Lemons are generally grown in orchards. If the environment is suitable, they can bloom all year round and the fruits can be harvested 6 to 10 times a year. Lemons can bear fruit 3 years after planting. However, they are generally harvested before they are ripe and can be stored for several months without going bad.

Lemon planting time and method

1. Lemons can be planted in spring and autumn. You must first choose a good planting site. The planting density should not be too large. Generally, the plant spacing is 3 meters and the row spacing is 4 meters. It is enough to plant about 55 plants per acre.

2. Dig the planting holes first and apply enough organic fertilizer to each hole. When planting, remove the lemon seedlings, trim the roots and put them into the planting holes, cover them with soil and press them. It should be noted that the roots can be covered with straw for heat preservation and moisture retention.
