Yam growth environment and conditions

Yam generally grows in areas with higher altitudes, and is commonly seen on hillsides, under valley forests, and on roadsides. It prefers a warm growing environment and requires a short period of light during maintenance. It is widely distributed in North Korea, Japan, and China, and is mostly planted south of the Huaihe River in Henan and Anhui in my country.

Yam Growing Conditions

Yam is a short-day crop that prefers a warm growing environment and is relatively drought-resistant but not water-resistant. When planting, loose, fertile and well-drained soil is usually used so that it can grow better.

Yam growth temperature

When yam is growing, the temperature needs to be kept between 25-28 degrees, so that its growth rate will be faster. If the temperature is lower than 20 degrees, it will grow slowly.

Yam growth process

When yam grows, it usually goes through stages such as germination, growth and dormancy. During maintenance, as the climate changes, it will successively enter four growth stages: germination, vine growth, expansion and dormancy. It needs timely watering and fertilization during maintenance.

Yam planting time and method

The specific planting time of yam needs to be determined according to its growth habits and the temperature and climate at the time. If it is propagated by sowing, it is usually carried out in spring. Loose, fertile and well-drained soil is needed for planting. During maintenance, there must be sufficient sunlight and a good ventilation environment.
