Water spinach growing environment and conditions

Water spinach is native to China and is a widely cultivated vegetable. It is sometimes also found in the wild. It is cultivated in large areas in central and southern China and is distributed throughout tropical Asia, Africa and Oceania.

Water spinach growing conditions

Water spinach is mostly distributed in southern China. It prefers a warm and humid environment, is not cold-resistant or heat-resistant, and can grow in the provinces along the Yangtze River from April to October.

Water spinach growth temperature

For the spreading growth of water spinach, the temperature should be kept between 25 and 30 degrees. In such an environment, the vines and leaves grow vigorously.

The growth process of water spinach

1. Water spinach is suitable for growing in farmland with soft and fertile soil. It is best to plant it in land that is easy to water and has sufficient sunlight.

2. Moreover, water spinach is suitable for planting at around 20℃. If it is planted outdoors, it must be planted in summer or autumn. However, if it is planted in spring or winter when the temperature is relatively low, then it must be planted in a greenhouse.

3. No matter where you plant it, you must find suitable soil for planting. This will allow the survival rate of water spinach to be higher to a certain extent.

Time and method of planting water spinach

Water spinach is suitable for planting in spring, from April to July in the south and a little later in the north, from June to August. Prepare loose and fertile soil in advance when planting, soak the seeds in warm water and then germinate them. When the seeds swell and turn white, plant them in the soil and finally cover them with a layer of soil.
