Reasons why Phalaenopsis does not bloom or has buds wither

Reasons why Phalaenopsis does not bloom or has buds wither

Main causes and analysis

Cultivation environment air dry

Excessive exposure to strong light and insufficient water supply will cause the leaves to wilt and turn yellow, which is not conducive to the differentiation and flowering of flower buds.

Improper temperature control

Poor temperature control will also hinder the normal development of the plant, hinder the growth of flower buds and prevent flowering. Phalaenopsis is suitable for cultivation in a high temperature environment. Even if flower buds sprout, if the indoor temperature is too low, the flower buds will wither and fall early, and will not meet the requirements for flowering.

Imbalanced fertilization ratio

If excessive nitrogen fertilizer is applied and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are insufficient, the differentiation of flower buds will be inhibited, resulting in no flowering or little flowering. If the fertilizer concentration is too high, especially if concentrated fertilizer is applied after the flower buds are formed, it will easily cause the flower buds to wither and fall off. If alkaline water and fertilizer are applied for a long time, it will hinder the root system's absorption of water and nutrients, making it difficult for Phalaenopsis to bloom.

Careless watering

If water splashes into the center of the flower at the base of the leaves when watering, the accumulated water will cause the leaf base to rot, causing the plant to grow abnormally and affecting flowering. Therefore, when spraying water, you can spray the leaves to prevent accidental spraying on the growth points. When the flower buds are formed, stop spraying water on the flowers to avoid bud falling.

Poor air circulation

During the flowering period, special attention should be paid to proper ventilation. If the air circulation is not smooth, the top of the flower stem will easily turn yellow and wither, and the buds will fall off.
