Jackfruit's growing environment and local conditions

Jackfruit Growth Environment and Conditions

Jackfruit is grown in Nepal, India, Bhutan and Malaysia. It has been introduced for cultivation in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and Yunnan in China. It generally grows in areas below 300 meters above sea level.

Jackfruit Growing Conditions

Jackfruit likes high temperature and humid environment. It is suitable for growing in an environment with an annual average temperature of 22-24 degrees. The average temperature of the coldest month must not be lower than 12 degrees, and the maintenance temperature must not be below 0 degrees. Seedlings and young trees are sensitive to low temperatures and need to be kept warm.

Jackfruit growth temperature

When the temperature is below 5 degrees, some leaves of jackfruit will be frostbitten. If the temperature is below 0 degrees, the jackfruit tree will freeze to death. The most suitable temperature for jackfruit growth is between 18 and 32 degrees.

Jackfruit growth process

It takes 3-5 years for jackfruit to bear fruit if it is cultivated in a suitable environment. If it is a seedling, it usually takes 8-10 years of care before it bears fruit. Its flowering and fruiting time is usually from February to March each year, and the fruit will mature in September to October.

Jackfruit planting time and method

1. The most critical factor when planting jackfruit is temperature. The average temperature throughout the year should be between 0 degrees and 21 degrees. This temperature is more suitable for growth. However, if it is planted as an economic crop, it is best to choose a place with a relatively high minimum temperature.

2. To establish an orchard, you must first cultivate the land, then dig planting holes, and then put an appropriate amount of fertilizer into the holes. Usually, the land should be made very flat. If it is a hilly area, the orchard should be made into trapezoidal fields according to the contour lines for planting.

3. When planting jackfruit, you must think about the size of the planting area in advance, because the pineapple tree is very large and can grow up to 20 meters. In the South China Sea area, planting can be done all year round, but it is best to do it in spring.

4. When planting jackfruit, choose seedlings that are about 25 cm tall and grow relatively strong. Do not damage the roots during transportation. After planting, water the seeds to help them take root.
