How to grow Forsythia in autumn

How to grow Forsythia in autumn

1. Scientific fertilization

Autumn is the time when forsythia flower buds form. At this time, you can add some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and spray some foliar fertilizers on its leaves. This will allow it to produce more flower buds and thus more flowers. In addition, it is necessary to reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied to prevent the plant's branches and leaves from growing too densely, consuming a lot of nutrients and hindering flowering.

2. Thinning

In autumn, the plants can be pruned appropriately. First, cut off the weak and diseased branches to prevent them from affecting flowering. Then thin out the main branches, leaving only 3-7 main branches with better growth, and cut off the rest. This will allow the nutrients to be more concentrated and the remaining branches to receive more light, thus producing more beautiful flowers.

3. Ensure lighting

In places with better light conditions, it is more conducive to the formation of flower buds. So in autumn, you need to put it outdoors in a place with enough sunlight for cultivation. Because it has good cold resistance, you don’t need to worry about it getting frozen if you place it outdoors.

4. Water appropriately

Watering in autumn is similar to other seasons. Just water in moderation to keep the soil slightly moist.
