How to propagate lucky bamboo by cuttings

How to propagate lucky bamboo by cuttings

1. Cutting time

The best season for cuttings is from January to late February. At this time, you can insert it directly into the soil, and it will generally take root in more than a month. You can also take cuttings from March to early April, but late March is the best time because the temperature is rising and the humidity is just right. It will survive in a week to half a month after being inserted.

2. Choose cuttings

First find a mother plant with good growth, then cut the nodes at one-third of the distance from its rhizome. At the same time, disinfect the tools before cutting to prevent the plant from being infected.

3. Processing of cuttings

Remove the excess leaves on the cuttings, especially those that are stained with water, because they will rot easily. If there are too many leaves, they will continue to consume its water and nutrients. After the cuttings are trimmed, they should be soaked in disinfectant water for an hour to disinfect them.

4. Cuttings

First, add water to the prepared bottle. Tap water can be used here, but leave it for a day to remove the chlorine in it. Then put some vitamin B12 in the vase to help the plant take root faster.

5. Maintenance after cutting

While waiting for rooting, always observe the temperature changes. If the temperature is very low, the rooting time will be prolonged. At this time, you can change the water in the bottle appropriately, and then wait until many small roots grow on the plant, you can add some nutrient solution to allow the plant to grow better.
